Enabling nonprofits to transform and scale their mission impact

The pandemic has shone a light on the many ways we depend on each other and have risen to the challenge of supporting each other through an unprecedented year. Nonprofit organizations have been at the frontline of the response to reach people and communities in need, a mission made more urgent every day as COVID-19 intensifies long-standing inequalities and global poverty.

As we approach World Humanitarian Day, I want to recognize nonprofit organizations’ positive impact on communities and their role in supporting humanitarian efforts, as well as the aid and health workers who sacrifice so much to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need.

I also want to recognize Microsoft partners—10,000 strong—who are developing modern, secure, and scalable Microsoft Cloud solutions for more than 225,000 nonprofits around the globe, enabling these organizations to leverage the best of our technologies to achieve their missions.

This growth is expected to accelerate as we work to serve even more nonprofits around the world. Let’s partner together to drive innovation and digital transformation for the greater good—and scale our collective impact.

Driving business impact with mission focus

Globally, there are millions of nonprofit organizations facing growing demands for their social, environmental, and humanitarian services. Due to the impact of COVID-19, between 119 and 124 million more people, for example, are projected by the World Bank to fall below the international poverty line of $1.90 per day by the end of 2021. This is just one of many examples of the effects of COVID-19.

For many nonprofits, there has never been more pressure to find ways to do more with less: increase the scale of their operations; improve efficiency; and protect their beneficiaries’ and donors’ data. Technology and digital transformation will play an important role in helping organizations meet these challenges.

Driving acceleration through Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit

At Microsoft we are committed to supporting every nonprofit by making technology affordable, accessible, and effective for nonprofits around the world through our global technology grants, discounts, and innovation agenda. At the heart of our innovation agenda to help organizations meet these increasing demands is the Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit, which brings together our trusted cloud capabilities into a common platform aligned to sector best practices and supporting common organizational scenarios. Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit is underpinned by a Common Data Model for Nonprofits, making it easier and less expensive for partners to innovate and nonprofits to integrate with existing solutions and share data across the organization.
